Project #2

Project # 2

I found this little beauty at Goodwill for $2.99 and thought it had potential. I liked it because of the swirls on the top and I have really wanted to reupholster something. I knew I didn't have the skills to do something major, so I thought this small seat would be a good start.

(Before)

I began the process by using Rustoleum primer, then I used some black Krylon spray paint that I found at Marden's (for those who don't live in Maine it is a store that has everything and then some) for a dollar. Don't you think it already looks 5o times better?
I really thought this project would be a piece of cake, and for most people it probably would've been, but I like to do things the "hard/making me so mad I want to scream" way. I kept getting this action going on and would have to sand it down and start again. GRRR! I think I was too close when spraying or it wasn't the right temp. I don't know.

I then went to the fabric store and picked out this cute fabric. I bought it, got home and realized I hadn't measured exactly right and had to take it back and get a bigger piece. GRRR! Good news though, by the time I went back to get more it was on sale for 1/2 off! My inability to get it right the first time paid off in the end. ;)
I got an inch thick foam pad and covered the seat (love the staple gun btw). I think I will hold off on any major reupholstering projects after doing this because I found I am not that great at it. :) Baby steps.

Here is the finished project.
I love the colors and I think it turned out just fine in the end.

My goal of being more crafty and creative in my thirties is definitely more challenging than I thought, but I do enjoy the finished products and hopefully will get better along the way. So now I am on to project #3 whatever that may be!

looks great! I think the "this project should only take x amount of mintues" and it taking longer is a genetic thing...your brother thinks the same thing and gets really frustrated when they take longer than he thinks they should. You did a great job!!!
