He is at it again folks. I really don't know what to do with this boy. He is seriously going to give me heart failure. If anyone knows how I can minimize these type of situations please let me know.
1. I came into the room and found him dunking my cell phone in his water cup like you would an oreo cookie in milk. When I asked him "why" he said "I don't know mama, you grumpy!"
2. While at church the other week he decided to pull the fire alarm. Not only does this annoy and disrupt everyone with the loud siren, but you can't turn it off or call and say it was an accident. In a few minutes we had the fire trucks, policeman, and ambulance there to put out a fire. Little did they know it was me that was going to need the hosing down and not the building. Now each Sunday we get "Xander don't pull the alarm", or "watch out for Xander".
3. I was with Kennedy at our church Christmas activity one night while Derek was home with Xander and Alli. He had put both of them to bed and was sitting on the couch when he heard a domestic disturbance outside our house. He went to check it out and then came back inside. A few minutes later he hears a knock on our door. He opened the door to find a police officer. She asked him if our apartment had a window going out to the roof. When Derek asked why, she proceeded to tell him that while she was driving by looking for the domestic disturbance, she heard singing. She looked to see where it was coming from and saw a little boy hanging out his window three stories up! WHAT. Derek goes into Xander's room and finds him standing inside his window sill and half of him hanging out an open window. He was singing follow the prophet for all of our neighborhood to hear. AAAHHH! Derek calls me and tells me this and I almost passed out. What am I going to do with him?
I am so glad that someone was having a domestic dispute or else my son might have gone out the window. The officer took down Derek's info and so we are now on the list of shady parents. I feel really blessed to still have him around. I don't know how either one of us is going to get through his childhood years and then I have the teens to look forward to. :)
What a crazy boy I have!

Kristi - I know actually LIVING through this probably isn't very funny and the window scene had to be terrifying...but oh my goodness, he sounds like a character! I am cracking up. Kids are too funny.
Oh my goodness. I can actually feel how your heart must have raced when you heard of the window incident. Sweet, sweet little Xander. Do you ever wonder if you'll ever be able to leave the phrase "Please help to keep my little boy from doing any serious harm to himself or I today" out. Everyday is an adventure with little boys. No doubt about that. Atleast the kid can never be labeled boring, right? He has definitely got some serious personality! If it makes you feel better, I also made the shady parents list two weeks ago when my Carter got through the child locked cupboard and took off the child safety cap on the medicine all in a matter of 1 minute. I didn't think he had taken any because there was no sticky evidence on his mouth, but I called poison control just so I could be aware of symptoms to watch out for. I thought the poison control guy was going to come and take me to jail right then. What are we going to do with these boys? Love you like crazy. Good luck in your quest to keep him safe.
Hey grumpy, i mean kristi...I am so sorry you have had some seriuos scares. When I think of Xander, I think of him hanging upside down in that swing just smiling away as we all rush to save him. Bodelle is good to warn me when Cambell is about to front flip off the bunk beds or something. She probably thinks I am a shady mom for not paying attention, but they get into stuff so fast and it is hard to keep up with it all. But it is a good thing you are so calm and can laugh things off. Hope you know how much we miss and love you-take care-em
That is so funny. I know it isn't funny to you, but i had a good picture in my head of him!!!! Little boys are funny and yes they get into everything and try everything. I can feel your stress. But it still is kind of funny!!!
Kristi! I'm back from Utah so I can catch up on your blog. I don't have any story to tell that would beat Xander's. Wow, that would be scary (that would be the moment when I give you a big hug...). He's an intrepid little boy!
Hope you're doing well. Our life is crazy right now but we're all well. Love ya!
Forgot to ask, are you on Facebook?
Oh Kristi that cracks me up! What a little stinker! Is this what I have to look forward to with Drew??
Well hey at least he was singing "Follow the Prophet" to the neighbors. You can't blame the kid for wanting to do missionary work, even if his life was at stake in the process!! :)
What a good example you have singing "follow the prophet" to those domestic disturbers:) I dont know what to tell you except for I have heard many stories about how out of control Mark was as a little boy...so I am pretty nervous. thank you so much for the Christmas card of your little kiddos! man they are cute! I cant believe how perfect it turned out! you are a champion picture getting taken mom! I hope kennedys ponytail survived Derek cutting it out with finger nail clippers. bless his heart!! love ya im excited to see you in march!!
Ok, you have me laughing out loud! I have a special place in my heart for crazy little boys. You will so be laughing about these things for years to come! Good luck with that little guy.
Kristi-I am sure this comes from the Poulson in him. Mom Poulson put Scott in bed everynight at 5:30pm to make sure he would make it to the next morning. I still remember when Pam called and asked me what Aspen and Ian were doing and I calmly said "oh, they are chopping up cheetos on the trampoline with an axe!" I was not even alarmed and she thought it was a riot! I promise you will survive this although it brings new meaning to the song "I believe there are angels among us..." I am positive that is how my children suurvived. Ask Derek about the time he was 18 months old, got up into the car and drove it across the field. I barely caught it in time to stop it before it went over a wheeline and into a big ditch! (All in a red dress with spikey high heels on!!)
Now we know why grandmas are completely gray!!! Love Dianne
Sounds like his is keeping you on your toes, and then some! Zac was chill, Lindsey was the climber and into more mischief then he even was, and still is. Love the singing out his window. That totally cracked me up.
