I have been amazed lately at how different each of my children are. I know they are their own little persons, but I still can't believe I can raise such different children when I mostly do the same thing with all of them.
EXAMPLE:
Today I took my kids to the library for Dr. Seuss's Birthday. They were having a little shindig of sorts and I thought they would have a good time. I started immediately noticing the difference between my two older children.
Just before we got out of the car to walk into the library, I lectured both of them on how important it was to stay by me and to walk with me to the doors. We get out of the car and immediately Xander takes off and Kennedy stays right by my side with her hand in my pocket. I have to run with the girls to catch up to Xander and Kennedy never left my side.
We get in the library and go back to the room and Kennedy sits down where she is asked and starts talking with a girl next to her. Xander goes into the rooms and runs all over the place including the stage where he isn't suppose to be. (He was in timeout until the shindig started).
While a "helper" was reading a story to all of the children he asked them to stomp their foot JUST ONCE when they heard the word foot. Kennedy would only stomp once and looked at others in disdain when they did more. Xander got most of Kennedy's looks because he stomped throughout the entire book regardless of the words being spoken.
During a game of find a piece of bread with butter on it, Kennedy had a melt down because she wanted a certain piece, Xander just was happy to find one and be done.
When it was time for cake Xander rushed the table and was the first child to be served. Kennedy stood in line and waited her turn.
When it was time to leave Xander found his coat and without looking back ran out the doors. Kennedy came running to find me and inform me that her brother was outside talking to strangers. (AHHH!)
I am not writing this to compare my children, but I just find it so interesting how different their little personalities are. I don't think I have done things that differently with each one and yet they are so completely different in the way they look at the world and attack things. Kennedy is my level headed/dramatic/obedient girl and Xander is my easy going/impulsive/reckless little boy. I wouldn't change their personalities at all. I love what they bring to our family, but I wish I could pick and choose when they were going to bring them out in full force. :)
Alli was with us too, but she was being two and that is all I have to say about her personality right now. ;)

A LOT of the difference is .............boy and girl. That is how God made them. :) How sweet of you to document it. You will look back and forget the details so keep documenting. You do a great job!
LOL! I always say that my mom had to have multiple personalities to raise her four children because we are all SOOO different. Your kids are darling. This cracked me up to read. Next time you're in Utah, call me. I would love to get together
Same with my 3 kids, they are so different. I don't even think it's a gender thing because my 2 girls are total opposites personnality wise. Although I was commenting to Austin this morning that they all love each other very much.
I'm glad I can still see what's going on with you and your family through your blog :)
It is so funny how much are two oldest are alike. I could see the exact thing happening with Ash and Carter. Maybe it is a November/May thing. Love to hear your fun stories. I totally had good intentions to celebrate Dr. Seuss day and totally didn't do them. (sigh). Love and miss you!
